Dr Maria Chetcuti-Cauchi
B.A., LL.M.(Warwick), LL.D., ACIArb
is a Maltese advocate ("avukat") and a
patent attorney and trademark agent in Malta.
Dr Maria Chetcuti-Cauchi read law at the
University of Malta where she graduated BA in Law and English, Diploma of
Notary Public and later Doctor of Laws in European Corporate Law. Dr Chetcuti-Cauchi
pursued her studies at Masters degree level in International Economic Law at the
University of Warwick, England. At Warwick, Dr Chetcuti-Cauchi
specialised in International & European Banking, International Corporate Finance
and International Technology Transfer.
Dr Chetcuti-Cauchi has
served as senior corporate services consultant at Deloitte Touche and has worked
on a number of corporate finance and privatisation projects at a major corporate and commercial law firm in Malta.
She currently heads the firm's Intellectual Property Division and acts as lead
partner in all e-commerce and technology projects. She also co-heads the firm's
Protection Unit and acts as Data Representative for a number of our clients.
She is a registered patent
attorney and trademark agent in Malta and specialises in international trademark
and patent protection and intellectual property law.
Chetcuti-Cauchi doctoral research at the
University of Malta centred around the European Company (the Societas Europaea)
as a New Corporate Vehicle. At the Law School of Warwick University, she
wrote her thesis on Online Initial Public Offerings under U.S. Law.
