In an official statement, the MRGC has said that although the European Court of Justice has ruled several times that member states could not stop gaming companies from operating their services in their territory.
Maltese gaming operators were
subject to strict anti-money laundering procedures and
rigorous monitoring and controls, and consequently are not
illegal. It continued that most of the member states that
were making the claims with the Court, had infringements
procedures filed against them.
