Practice

Amanda works within the Tax Department of Chetcuti Cauchi, practicing in different areas of taxation. Amanda is responsible to provide tax advice to local and international clients on various tax matters relating Maltese Income Tax, Stamp Duty and Value Added Tax. She is also responsible for the tax compliance services of the firm for both corporate and individual clients.

Professional Experience

Amanda has obtained a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree from the University of Malta in 2006. Amanda has ever since specialised in taxation and has formed part of the tax and legal department of one of the big four accountancy firms for two and a half years. During this period she has gained technical knowledge on Maltese and international taxation and was involved in providing tax advice on international structures. She was also responsible for providing tax compliance services to individual and corporate clients operating in various industries. Amanda has also obtained a Diploma in Taxation provided by the Malta Institute of Taxation. Apart from the experience in taxation, Amanda has also performed financial audits in Malta and Italy.

Legal Research

"The Transfer of Company Shares under the Income Tax Act in the Light of Amendments to the Capital Gains Rules by Legal Notice 5 of 2005", 2006

 

Amanda's Accountancy dissertation analyses the Maltese income tax arising on the transfer of company shares following major changes introduced in the law in 2005. She focuses on the computational aspects of the capital gain and identifies the weaknesses of this amending legislation.
